Nightlife
After the temple complex, what’s happening after dark in Siem Reap? Here’s a quick guide to the town’s nightlife

Siem Reap has fewer bars than Phnom Penh and they are concentrated around Psar Chas (Old Market), which has rapidly evolved into the epicentre of the town’s nightlife. Pub Street reached saturation point a couple of years ago and over the years new venues have opened in the adjoining streets, especially The Passage and The Alley, which run parallel to the main drag.
One way to start an evening out would be to enjoy a cocktail or two at one of the city’s luxury hotels, especially if your visit coincides with Happy Hour. The Old Market area starts to get busy at about dusk, when the bars on Pub Street compete for customers with loud music and cheap beer. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity offering food from around this world and beyond. It’s New Orleans without the marching bands, jazz connections and Mississippi steamboats. Pub Street starts to wind down at about midnight, but if you’re a night bird with a thirst, Giddy Gecko, The Warehouse and Laundry Bar are usually open until well past 2am, while Sports Bar and X Rooftop Bar regularly keep their doors open until sunrise.
Anyone interested in some local “culture” should check out Martini Pub, no relation to its PP namesake but a fairly typical example of a provincial Cambodian night-time hangout. Zone One is another Khmer club somewhat reminiscent of PP’s Spark with its flashing lights and amped up sound system. A Siem Reap visit would not be complete without a stroll through the Night Market with its more than 100 stalls and the Island Bar, its central attraction.
